The Road to Albany

OK, you’re at the corner of Second and Main. It’s worth noting that as you go through the Detour, you’re going to be sort of jumping back and forth in time, hearing about different landmarks that date from different points in Utica’s history.

Right now, you’ve fast forwarded to the 1800s. Imagine you’re standing with Main Street in front of you, and envision that this was once a dirt road that ran to you left, to the east, all the way to Albany.

Now we’re going to head right, west down Main Street. There are some big old brick buildings right in front of you, about a block away. As you move along, we’ll continue to fast forward through the 1800s and into the 1900s.
